The Constitution

We-The-Writers is dedicated to one thing and one thing only: the disappearing art of literature and writing.

There are a few rules here, but not many.

1) PLEASE, no fanfiction or Manga.

2) If you contribute, please read and comment on other deviations as well. We all want to be seen and heard.

3) All deviations must be submitted to the correct folder. Deviations submitted to featured will be decided on by two of the Admins.

4) If the folders are closed or you cannot submit to a folder or we do not have a folder that suits your piece, let us know. We will create one. Until then, submit to featured and we will sort it for you. :)

Have fun! We encourage everyone to write and submit everyday!

Shoegazer
"So who cares if I changed?" he exclaimed, lifting his arms in mock disgust.
I sat still, unsure on how to answer him. I looked at my grubby sneakers for a moment,  trying to compose my thoughts. The more I looked at the dust and leftover filth on my sneakers, the more I reflected on the times we spent together as friends.
I remember us going out together for a night on town when these sneakers were clean and brand new, on the first night I wore them, actually. We laughed ourselves silly at the possible misadventures the two of us could have.
The silly movies we would watch at the cinemas, the people we would spook at the book store, the horrid food we would eat at whatever place caught our attention, until we've had our load of fun and simply get back to our homes, and reliving the memories of that night several times, but as cliché as it sounds, we were never able to capture the fun we had on that night together.
Or, as I looked introspectively at the mud stains accumulated

Catalyzer
You are the only one who catalyzes my feelings,
You are coal to the long gone fire of my emotions,
You are the air to my desecrated lungs,
You are the breath that animates me,
You are the pain that awakes me,
You are everything that makes me become more alive,
I never want this fire to go out,
I never my lungs to crumble,
I never want to be without the pain that you bring me,
You are much more than you might think.

Literature
Obsession
Blood-shot eyes frantically search,
Trembling hands with apparent blue veins are cut and bleeding
with lucid desperation.
The need is instilled deep within,
Will never cease and will always devour.
Sleepless nights and idle days start to fuse together.
What is the difference between the sun and the moon?
Quaking with a persistent panic,
What’s wrong with me?
Don’t want to be

How does one know the right path? Or are we all just senselessly wandering, believing that our actions could some how steer the winds of fate. It would be so much easier to relinquish all responsibility and just allow my ship to go where it may. Yet, that very concept seems to create an inner conflict, for how could I ever raise issue with destination if I never even attempted to guide my path? Is the true conflict simply not accepting that my destination is where fate has brought me? Is it this mortal blood that condemns me to this fate? My time here is limited, and to not achieve my self created agenda, seems to create a state worse than dying a thousand times over. This rebellion against my current situation has only seemed to flood my life with the fires of desire. And although they may keep me warm on nights so cold, they are slowly burning me alive, day by day, till only the ashes of what I once was remain. Surely it is my hope to be reborn of these ashes, something better, something with purpose, a new fate, a new soul entirely. Thus finally freeing myself from the lock of Destiny. To create our own, is man's desire, envious of the Creator's ability to do so, we seek his power, and attempt it in our actions, usually at our own peril. Both actions seem to lead to the same destination...madness.

A graphic novel would be considered unacceptable then?

Where do 6 word stories go that would fall under general fiction?
Since you guys don't have a general fiction folder :)

"From above, she could see bodies lying in the streets. The ground shrilled in pain. "

Is this the proper use of shrilled? My beta reader is not sure.
I was able to find "shrilled" online.

I wish to ask you guys, would you be interested in featuring a few of my journal entries? One now and more to come? I am writing a multi-part review/how to guide for a piece of freeware that I think is an invaluable tool for writers of any sort, and I was hoping to have it published/featured somewhere prominent where more people than just my few watchers would see it. If you are interested, this is the link for Part One; [link]

The program is called yWriter version 5, and the download is a measly 1.5Mb if you don't get the dictionary too. I will be posting more details about some of the functions mentioned in this journal sometime next week.
